Please note that information collected by LegalConnect in connection with your use of the LegalConnect Service is controlled by the entity or other third party that has entered into the Terms or other agreement with LegalConnect for the use of and access to the LegalConnect Service (the “Service Provider”).
When LegalConnect collects or processes such information, it does so on behalf of the Service Provider. If you access and use the LegalConnect Service and/or create a user account, you are a “user”. If you are using the Services by invitation of a Service Provider, whether that Service Provider is your employer, another organization, or an individual, that Service Provider determines its own policies regarding storage, access, modification, deletion, sharing, and retention of such information which may apply to your use of the LegalConnect Service. If applicable, please check with the Service Provider about the policies and settings it has in place with respect to information you submit in connection with your use of the LegalConnect Service.
You may browse our Site without providing us with any personally identifiable information. In order to register for an account on our Site and to use the LegalConnect Service, we require you to submit your personally identifiable information to us. When you register for an account on our Site and to use the LegalConnect Service, you may be required to provide us with personally identifiable information such as your first name, last name, password, email address, phone number, business address, username, your Bar number or ID, and password.
If you use the LegalConnect Service, you may conduct transactions, including eFilings and related legal support services. In conjunction with your use of the LegalConnect Service, we will collect information about your transactions, including, without limitation, the name of your law firm or company, documents and other content, data, information (including, personal information), any photos, videos and other content you upload to the LegalConnect Service, and related public documents, materials and information that you submit in connection with such transactions. When you make a purchase through the LegalConnect Service, you will be required to submit a credit card or ACH information for billing purposes. Our third party payment processor will process your payment and we only store the last 4 digits, and expiration date of your credit card number.
If you use the LegalConnect App, LegalConnect may collect your geolocation data (subject to your consent), and certain mobile device information, which includes: device/platform type and version (iOS v4, Android, etc.).
If you contact us, we will collect any personally identifiable information that you include in your communications to us.
We may use your personally identifiable information to deliver you our Services and information you have requested, verify your authority to enter certain password protected areas of the Services, improve the content and general administration of our Services and for targeted marketing, advertising and remarketing.
If you are a user of our Services, we will use your personally identifiable information to provide the Services and support to you. We store your online work orders and related public documents and information that you submit for filing court documents and service of process to make it easier for you to access and use this information within our Services at a later date. We also will provide you with notifications about your account and your use of the Services and other services that we believe may be of interest to you. When you make a purchase through the LegalConnect Service, you will be required to submit a credit card or ACH information for billing purposes. Our third party payment processor will process your payment and we only store the last 4 digits, and expiration date of your credit card number. We use device information to identify your account to simplify sign-on, and to determine your location in connection with your use of certain services and functionality of the LegalConnect Service.
In some instances, we may choose to anonymize your personal data instead of deleting it, for statistical use, for instance. When we choose to anonymize, we make sure that there is no way that the personal data can be linked back to you or any specific user. We share aggregated, automatically-collected or otherwise non-personal information with third parties for various purposes, including (i) compliance with reporting obligations; (ii) for business or marketing purposes; (iii) to assist us and other parties in understanding our users’ interests, habits and usage patterns for certain programs, content, services, advertisements, promotions and/or functionality available through the Services. We do not share personal information about you in this case.
Cookies and Tracking Data
We may track the total number of visitors to our Services, the number of visitors to each page of our Services, browser type, IP addresses, and device id’s, UDID’s and we may analyze this data for trends and statistics. We may also use such information to administer and improve the Services, analyze trends, and track users’ use of the Services.
We use persistent cookies. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided in your Internet browser’s “help” file. You can read more about cookies at www.allaboutcookies.org.
We may set a persistent cookie to store your login data. Persistent cookies enable us to enhance the experience on our Site and the LegalConnect Service so you can login without re-entering your account information. If you reject cookies, you may still use our Site and the LegalConnect Service, but your ability to use some areas of our Site and/or the LegalConnect Service may be limited.
LegalConnect may track users over time and over multiple websites if a user registers for our Services. LegalConnect does respond to browser do not track signals.
Third party providers of external services like web traffic analysis services, such as Google Analytics, may track users over time and over our Site, the LegalConnect Service and third party websites and such third parties may also place cookies, via our Site and the LegalConnect Service. Advertising & Remarketing
We use Google AdWords Remarketing to advertise LegalConnect across the Internet, in particular on the Google Display Network. AdWords remarketing will display ads to you based on what parts of the LegalConnect website you have viewed by placing a cookie on your web browser. THIS COOKIE DOES NOT IN ANYWAY IDENTIFY YOU OR GIVE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER OR MOBILE DEVICE. The cookie is used to indicate to other websites that “This person visited a particular page, so show them ads relating to that page.” Google AdWords Remarketing allows us to tailor our marketing to better suit your needs and only display ads that are relevant to you.
If you do not wish to see ads from LegalConnect you can opt out in several ways:
Custom Audience (Facebook). We may participate in Facebook.com’s Custom Audience program which enables us to display personalized ads to persons on our email lists when they visit Facebook.com. We provide your email address to Facebook to enable Facebook to determine if you are a registered account holder with Facebook. You may opt-out of participation in our Facebook Custom Audience by sending an email, from the email address you are opting out of, to the email address provided in our contact information. For your opt-out to be effective, you must: (i) place the following text in the subject line of the email – “Opting Out of Facebook.com Website Custom Audience Ads”, and (ii) in the body of the email, include your name and email address. We will forward your name and email address to Facebook.com with a request to delete you from all of our Facebook Custom Audience Ads.
We may participate in additional retargeting and behavioral advertising services that will be similar to the services described above.
LegalConnect recognizes the privacy interests of children and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities and interests. The Site and Services are not directed to children under the age of 13. LegalConnect does not target its Services to children under 13. LegalConnect does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that a child under the age of 13 provided us with personally identifiable information, we will delete that information. If your child has provided personally identifiable information, please contact us so we can delete it. If you are under the age of 13, please do not provide us with any personally identifiable information.
We may provide your personally identifiable information and the data generated by cookies and the aggregate information to the vendors and service agencies that we may engage to assist us in providing our Services to you. For example, we may use a third party payment processor to process payments for our Services. Such third party entities may be obligated to use your personally identifiable information solely to provide the services to us and may be restricted from further disclosures of your information.
As described in the “Advertising & Remarketing” Section above, we provide your email address to Facebook to enable Facebook to determine if you are a registered account holder with Facebook for our remarketing purposes.
We will not sell your personally identifiable information to any company or organization except we may transfer your personally identifiable information in conjunction with a transaction such as a financing or to a successor entity upon a merger, consolidation or other corporate reorganization in which LegalConnect participates or to a purchaser of all or substantially all of LegalConnect’ assets to which the Services relate or in the event of a bankruptcy or related or similar proceedings.
We employ industry standard procedural and technological measures that are reasonably designed to help protect your personally identifiable information from loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. LegalConnect may use, without limitation, secure socket layer, firewalls, password protection and other security measures to help prevent unauthorized access to your personally identifiable information.

Updating and Deleting Personally Identifiable Information
LegalConnect provides you with the ability to review, update and/or delete certain contact information that you provide to us by accessing your account. Your right to access your personally identifiable information may be restricted in exceptional circumstances, including, but not limited to, when the burden or expense of providing this access would be disproportionate to the risks to your privacy in the case in question, or when the rights of persons other than you would be violated by the provision of such access. If we determine that your access should be restricted in a particular instance, we will provide you with an explanation of our determination and respond to any inquiries you may have.
